We know you're sharing because you care. When you're sharing what little you have, it means the world to a hungry dog. But bread isn't the ideal choice — it fills the stomach but provides almost no nutrition, and moldy bread can be dangerous.

Better Alternatives If Dog Food Isn't Possible

    • Plain rice (no sauce, no seasoning)
    • Plain pasta (no sauce, no seasoning)
    • Oatmeal (plain, cooked with water)
    • Eggs (cooked scrambled or boiled)
    • Beans or lentils (plain, cooked)
    • Rice or pasta mixed with meat scraps, if available

A little protein mixed with rice or pasta is a big improvement.

    Don't Forget the Water

Fresh, clean water is always vital, especially in hot weather. A stray dog can go longer without food than without water.
