    The Fostering Process

    1

    Apply

Complete the online foster application form with your information, preferences, and experience. Tell us about your home environment and what type of dog you'd be comfortable fostering.

    2

    Review

Our team will review your application and contact you to discuss your fostering goals. We'll answer any questions you have about the process and what to expect.

    3

    Home Visit

We may require a virtual or in-person "meet and greet" to assess your home environment and meet all family members, especially other pets. This helps us ensure a good match for everyone.

    4

    Approval and Matching

Once approved, your application will be sent to a foster family for the dog you've expressed interest in. The foster family will then choose the best fit for their dog. We'll work together to find the perfect match.

    What Our Fosters Say

Fostering with Rover's Return Dog Rescue has been an amazing experience. I've fostered four puppies, and throughout the entire journey, Rover's Return was there every step of the way—providing food, medical care, and constant support. I'm grateful for everything they do and look forward to continuing to foster with them.

    Frequently Asked Questions

How long do I foster a dog?
Foster periods vary depending on the dog's needs and how quickly they find their forever home. It could be a few weeks to a few months. We'll discuss expectations upfront.
Can I adopt my foster dog?
Yes! Many fosters become "foster failures" (the best kind of failure). If you fall in love with your foster, you'll have first right of refusal to adopt.
What if I already have pets?
That's often a plus! We'll work with you to find a dog that's compatible with your existing pets. The home visit helps us assess the best match.
What if it doesn't work out?
We understand that not every match is perfect. If issues arise, we'll work together to find solutions. If needed, we can find an alternative placement for the dog.
