At Rovers Return Dog Rescue, we get calls for help from all over. Behind every request is a dog who needs someone to show up.

But showing up costs money.

There's fuel to get there, food to bait the traps, equipment to buy and maintain, and often repeated journeys before a frightened dog feels safe enough to go inside. A rescue can mean hours of waiting and days of returning, not just one trip.

So much happens before you ever see the "safe at last" photo.

• Fuel to get out to the call, however far away it is
• Traps and equipment to buy, repair, and keep ready
• Bait food for the days it can take a frightened dog to trust a trap
• Return trips for the rescues that don't happen on the first try
